Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Zimbabwe Dr Tamer Almassri has condemned the burning of displaced Palestinians alive by Israeli forces.
The victims were living in tents at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Jabalia camp in Northern Gaza.
The ongoing Israeli genocide has seen nearly 42 300 people killed, mostly women and children and over 98 600 injured, according to local health authorities.
Nearly 180 journalists covering the war have also been killed as Israeli forces deliberately target them.
Ambassador Almassri said Israel’s actions are some of the most heinous forms of crimes, targeting Palestinian civilians to empty the areas where they live through direct killing or forced displacement.
“Apartheid Israel is exploiting global distractions arising from its actions in Lebanon to continue its violent campaign in Gaza with an objective to sever northern Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian territory and fully depopulate the area as part of a wider displacement strategy,” he said.
Israel is accused of killing people and destroying their houses with a view to take up more territory.
“The international community’s failure to take firm steps to stop this genocide war contributes to encouraging Israel to move forward in implementing its plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people and dismembering their homeland through the crimes of gradual annexation, establishing buffer zones, and deepening colonialism,” he said.
“The State of Palestine urges the international community to implement the United Nations resolutions, especially the advisory decision of the International Court of Justice, which calls for ending the occupation within 12 months.”
The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine. -Additional reporting: Al Jazeera.com
