Issue of the mind: Part 2

“And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not . . . And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straight away the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.”(Mark 9:18-20)

Even if somebody is 100 percent mentally possessed, he still has a chance to decide and say no to the devil. You can be possessed to the extent of destroying everything that you see or even trying to destroy yourself but you are given a moment of decision. It does not matter how long the devil can possess you, there is a moment of decision given to you to either say yes or no to the devil. No matter how much you are possessed there is a moment you can experience liberty before you are delivered. There is a window period, an opportunity that you are given to make a decision. This is why when the prodigal son came back to his senses he used that opportunity to think and remember about the father.

It does not matter the devil has gotten hold of your entire being, there is a time when you can be left alone and analyse what has been happening in your life. You can then realise the works of the devil and decide to do something about it. You always have a role to play. If the devil tells you to steal something and you are caught, if you believe that it was just the devil and you did not contribute, you have to understand that you are not the only person who thought of stealing. Everybody thinks of doing it, but what you do after thinking about it matters. What makes you a Christian is the final decision you take.

There is a time you can think of doing something crazy and then you tell yourself that I cannot do this as a Christian. You can think of it but you still have control over your thoughts and imaginations. If the devil has been tying you down mentally, financially or spiritually, you can still make a decision and open your mouth declaring that it is enough. In the theme scripture above, the problem is that the young man was not allowed to speak. For him then to open his mouth and declare that it is enough was difficult because the devil could not allow him to open his mouth and say the words.

We need to talk about epilepsy, an attack of the mind. Epilepsy comes in different forms. The young man from the scripture above was epileptic but during the time they were not yet aware what it was. We can conclude that he was epileptic by gathering the evidence around him. We might not find the word epilepsy in that scripture, but by gathering the manifestations of the spirit you can see that he was epileptic. What the boy’s father saw was a manifestation.

There are so many causes of epilepsy. Head injuries are also believed to be causes of epilepsy. If your brain is disturbed, or damaged it can trigger epilepsy. Some when they get old and they experience stroke, it can also cause epilepsy. Epilepsy can come to you at any time, but on the majority, physicians cannot really tell the source of it, hence, it is a spiritual thing. It is a spirit that controls the mind and then the mind controls the body. There is an oldest trick of the devil, which he has been using over and over again and it is still working. Just like they say, “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”. Brains that are not put to any assignment are the devil’s workshop.

This is why most critics do not have anything to do; if they are doing something it is not paying them anything. The moment the devil comes to you and realises that there is a certain percentage of your brain that you are not using, he takes advantage of that. You would have given him a place to occupy, a workshop to work in.

There is a stage when a demon can possess you hundred percent and take over your entire body. It will no longer allow you to reason.  This is why you can find people determined to do something bad, it does not matter your advice or correction, they will disregard it and keep on going until they die. If you find somebody like that, there is still a moment of realisation in his life that what I am doing is not right. If you are given that moment of realisation, it does not matter it is just an hour per day, that becomes your opportunity to run to Jesus. There are times you can think of doing something then you try to suppress it but the pressure will just be too much in your body that you cannot even sleep unless you wake up and do that thing. It is a spirit that takes over your entire being.

The boy with the epileptic spirit was a very difficult issue to address. When Jesus demonstrated His power and healed the young man, the disciples came to him privately wanting to know the secret behind the healing of the boy. They wanted to know why they could not cast out that kind of a demon and Jesus told them that such a demon only goes out by prayer and fasting. This is why medicine cannot cure it, professional people cannot cure it and even theologians cannot cure it but only prayerful and fasting people. It is a problem difficult to address because it is a mental thing. If healing is to take place it has to start from the mind.

What is giving us problems on this planet are people who are not able to control their minds. Professors cannot do anything in regards to mental problems, it is prayerful and fasting people who can address the problem. If you go out there and see things happening now like child trafficking and child molesting, they are all being caused by mental problems. You really wonder what is happening but the truth is we need to go to Jesus and let Him address our problems. How can we have somebody putting on an explosive jacket walking around streets trying to find crowded places so that he can blow up himself? You cannot do that unless you have been brainwashed, it is a mental thing.
