Farmers have been advised to vaccinate their cattle against deadly cattle diseases including foot and mouth and theileriosis also known as January disease, failure to do so is an offence.

Four districts in Mashonaland Central have been placed under quarantine by the veterinary services following the outbreak of foot and mouth and January diseases.

The areas under quarantine for cattle, goats and sheep movement include Centenary, Mt Darwin, Guruve and Mbire.

Speaking at the launch of a national anti-stock theft campaign in Rushinga recently veterinarian Dr Tanaka Jumo urged communities in these districts to intercept any truckload of livestock.

He added that communities can report to the nearest police station or veterinary services office.
