‘It was a dream working with Jah Prayzah’

RAPPER Takura Shonhai says he is elated with the collaboration he did with Jah Prayzah.

Takura revealed that it was his dream to work with Wagwizi and that explains why he was roped in the song Ndorira, from the album Maita Baba.

In an interview with H-Metro, Takura said Jah Prayzah was one of biggest artists in Zimbabwe so he feels honoured to be part of his journey.

“The song is self-explanatory in terms of what it means and in terms of blending genres – hip-hop and contemporary, the process was not hard.

“It’s not as complicated as people might think, it’s us doing what we love,” he said.

He added that doing collaborations helps a lot, especially for artists like him, who are still trying to make a name for themselves in the industry.

“The power of collaboration is like joining two worlds to become one.

“There are people who never listen to my music and the same applies to Jah Prayzah.

“Jah Prayzah is the biggest artist in Zimbabwe so, for an artist like me who is still going up, I appreciate the collaboration.

“Working with Jah is amazing, he is an amazing person, he has supported me from way back,” he said.

Takura revealed that in 2017, he and Jah Prayzah tried to work on a project together.

“At some point he even came to my house with his friend and he had a song he wanted me on.

“I was so honoured at that time and it was in 2017, during my early stages in music.

“We didn’t get to finish recording the song and releasing it because it wasn’t time yet for us to collaborate.

“About the visuals, I have to hear from Jah Prayzah and see how the album goes.

“One of the things I admire about him and his art is that he goes for quality, you can feel his art.

“He puts everything he has into his music so it’s amazing to see him grow and be a part of that journey,” he said.
