Italian firm supplies mining machinery to Zim

Engineer Muvindi said the stone mining sector had potential to grow in leaps and bounds if it was recapitalised.
“Zimbabwe produces some of the most amazing stones but requires new technology to add value to the stones and market internationally but lacks the adequate technology and machinery. As the country embraces the technology penetration of international ornamental stone market can be realised,” he said.
“The booming of the economy will certainly increase demand of dimensional stones, since they are used in the construction industry,” he said.
The mining sector is this year forecast to grow 44 percent this year, buoyed by the prevailing macro economic stability and firming mineral prices on the international market. – New Ziana.
