It’s a student, mentor affair in Div One

IT will be a student against mentor battle when ZIFA Northern Region Division One Soccer League leaders Simba Bhora visit Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena this afternoon.

Arthur Tutani, who is now with Simba Bhora, and Chegutu Pirates’ Richard Chunga once worked together three years ago.

Tutani was once in charge of Pirates in 2018 when he left the club in a huff as his video hurling insults and attacking the then Chegutu Pirates sponsor with stones went viral.

Chunga, was an assistant to Tutani, but he has promised to give his former mentor a lesson today.

“With football anything is possible and I have so much respect for ‘Ba Shosho’, as Tuts is known, but for this game we would not want to disappoint our fans who are loyal to the team.

“I think we have assembled a good side that is capable of competing. We have both youth and experience in the side and I am looking forward to a win after last week’s disappointing defeat.

“The region is very competitive so we have to do our best. After last week’s setback, we need to find our feet again,” said Chunga.

Simba Bhora were held to a 3-3 draw by Ngezi-19 as Pirates lost 2-0 to Golden Eagles in their last matches.

Meanwhile, the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League season gets underway today with several matches lined up.

The region is made up of 16teams that will battle it out for the championship. The league has six newcomers in JM Busha, Lowveld United, Wangu Mazodze, Manica Diamonds Under-20, Nzuma Bar and Zaka Academy.
