IT is two days to go before what promises to be the biggest summer musical concert in the City of Kings and Queens, the Sanganai/Hlanganani Family Music Festival roars to life.
Top artistes from Zimbabwe and South Africa are billed to perform at the event that will serve as a shutdown party of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo. On the lineup are locals, Killer T, Djembe Monks, Boy Nino, Msiz’kay, Fab G UmshanakaGogo, Vinner, and Charleston Choir.
South Africans, Imali Eningi hit-maker Big Zulu, Big Flexa hit-maker Costa Tich, Umuzi eSandton hit-maker Lwa Ndlunkulu and Putsununu hit-maker Mduduzi Ncube complete the list.
Chronicle Showbiz spoke to local artistes who promised to bring their best to the stage.
Fab G UmshanakaGogo said he is looking forward to the event as it will be yet another opportunity to share the stage with SA acts.
“It’s a great opportunity and I’m geared. Sharing the stage with big names is not new to me and I believe I’m getting bigger by the day too.
It’s going to be my second time sharing the stage with Big Zulu and that’s amazing,” he said.
Said Killer T: “It’s an honour to be performing at such an event. Fans should expect an energetic performance as I’ll also sample new songs.”
Boy Nino said he is looking forward to representing the local hip-hop scene and performing hits as well as a yet-to-be-released track.
Ngawuz’umoya wam hit-maker, Msiz’kay said: “It feels amazing to be sharing the stage with such big artistes. I’m excited and can’t wait.
It’ll be my first to perform alongside Big Zulu and Costa Titch so fans should expect me to be on top of my game as I’ll deliver an explosive performance.”
Amapiano musician Vinnie King said this event could not have come at a better time as he will use it to promote his latest song, Amaboomerang.
“This opportunity has come at the perfect time as I have a song titled Amaboomerang that’s making waves.
Also, I have an amazing dance group that I’m working with called Loxion Dance crew, so we promise nothing, but the best version of what Bulawayo can offer in terms of live performances,” said Vinnie King.
Event organisers, 3D Events yesterday said preparations for the event are on course with tickets already on sale. – @mthabisi_mthire
