IT’S spin time again this Saturday at Borrowdale Racecourse with yet another edition of “Burn Outs”, where car spinners will thrill fans with their amazing stunts.
The showcase starts at 11.30am until 8pm with spinners among them Spin Kid, Dante Rock, Russell, Maurice Mayor aka Vevelious, Goofa, Black Mamba as well as Isaac Mayor aka Fat Cat taking turns on the tarmac.
Zimbabwe’s foremost stuntman, Leeroy Green more popularly known as Kunnie, will be holding it down like never before when he complements the spinners.
Added to the fun will be non-stop music by the League of Extraordinary DJs who include Shy Spin, Patch, Ren-X and J Dub on the turntables.
The family fund day will also see children under 12 attending the show for free with lots of entertainment including jumping castles.
Those who love to braai and drink will be pleased to see BBQs and chilled drinks at the food stalls dotted around Borrowdale Racecourse.
But the afternoon spinning will see the return of The General from Botswana, who rocked the Borrowdale Race Course in May this year.
The General is well known for his breathtaking skills at “burn outs” where he screech tyres, jump in and out of the spinning car and even stand on the bonnet while it is in motion.
The family fun day will also feature thrilling performances from the doyen of car spinning, Fat Cat , who is expected to leave the racecourse up in smoke.
Fat Cat is not a newcomer when it comes to spinning. It has been a decade since he started out with his BMW 3 Series.
Other spinners scheduled to take part include Fat Cat’s son, Maurice Mayor, in other words it will be father versus son. Maurice has been showcasing his skills behind the wheels since 2008.
Another car spinner, Dante Rock, will be rocking the crowds with action behind the wheel while Black Mamba brings a lot a surprises and excitement to the crowd. Kunnie, one of the organisers, said the show was a must-attend for those who love to braai, drink and enjoy music.
“We would like to invite parents and their children to come and enjoy the show.
“There is going to be lots of entertainment for the children and adults alike. It will be a great day for a family outing because children under 12 will attend the show for free,” he said.
No doubt adrenaline junkies will experience some goose bumps at the “Burn Outs”.
In South Africa car spinning is legal, provided it is done in an enclosed arena, which revellers call a “spin”.
