HWANGE Football Club coach, Try Ncube and his ZPC Hwange counterpart Njabulo Dube are in agreement that the race for promotion in the Zifa Southern Region Division One league is yet to be settled after the two top sides on the log standings drew 1-1 at Ingagula Stadium on Saturday.
The much anticipated Hwange derby between ZPC Hwange and Hwange FC saw Enerst Gwitima open the scoring for Hwange before Bhekani Sibanda equalised for ZPC Kariba.
The result means Hwange remain on top of the log with 79 points, with their neighbours five points behind. With three matches to go before the end the season, the race could go to the wire.
“Both teams gave it their all. We are happy with the result that we got because we wanted to keep the lead at five points or increase it. It’s still game on in these remaining games,” said Ncube.
His opposite number Dube said: “We remain optimistic, despite this result. We played well against Hwange. We created chances which was good. There are three more games to go and we are not giving up.”
Hwange’s remaining matches are against Ajax (home), Indlovu Iyanyathela(home) and Makhandeni Pirates (away). For ZPC Hwange they travel to Bulawayo to face Indlovu Iyanyathela, get a bye worth three points from now defunct Indosakusa and before taking on Zimbabwe Saints at home.
Full Results: Ajax Hotspurs 0-1 Indlovu Iyanyathela, Mountain Climbers 0-1 Arenel Movers, Indonsakusa 0-3 Talen Vision, Bosso 90 2-1 Quality Foods, ZPC Hwange 1-1 Hwange,
Ratanang 3-2 Mainline, Zimbabwe Saints 0-0 CIWU.
