AFRO-FUSION musician, David “HD” Hondoyedzomba, reckons Jah Prayzah is a trendsetter.
He saluted the superstar after he made history by launching two albums, in two big cities, in two consecutive nights.
Jah Prayzah launched his album Chiremerera in Harare last Friday before he proceeded to Bulawayo where he launched Maita Baba on Saturday night. “I have always respected Jah Prayzah for his dedication and hard work, which he has shown over the years.
“Last weekend, he made history and only lazy people can talk ill about him.
“We need to give him flowers now because he has done almost everything done by our legends,” he said.
HD, who is due to launch his own album on June 2 at Garwe Restaurant, believes fellow artists need to copy one or two things from Jah Prayzah.
“To be honest, we need to copy the good things that Jah Prayzah has done for the industry.
“Tuku once said there is nothing wrong in copying the good deeds done by others and, in my case, I am ready to copy from Jah Prayzah.
“There are so many lessons that we can learn from him.
“I once shared the stage with him and the level of commitment is really overwhelming.”
HD, who passed through the late Oliver “Tuku Mtukudzi’s great tutelage, believes unity is key for local acts.
“Last weekend we saw the power of unity and that is all that we want to see happening in showbiz. “Unnecessary fights will take us nowhere while real progress is attained through hard work.”
He said preparations for his fourth album are well on course.
“We have covered almost 70 percent of the work and now we are simply ironing out a few issues.
“The venue is Garwe Restaurant and June 2 is the date for the launch. We will certainly invite Jah Prayzah as one of our guests because of his influence.
“A role model in his own right, Jah Prayzah has given us hope and faith that we can all achieve what we want in showbiz.”
His forthcoming album carries eight tracks.
