Award-winning lyricist Mukudzei Mukombe, affectionately known as Jah Prayzah’s love for reading could be paying off as the quality of his music videos improves by the day. Recently the musician released videos from his album “Jerusarema” which fans have excitedly endorsed.
Barely two days after being uploaded on YouTube, the videos have attracted thousands of viewers.
It seems the man and his producer Willard “Slimaz” Magombedze have done their homework in making sure fans are not short-changed.
The musician told The Herald Review that it was easy for him to come up with a good video script.
“When you write a song you get an image in your mind and it becomes easy to come up with a script for the video. This also explains why it takes us a short time to come up with them,” he said.
The musician, however, could not divulge how much financially he used on the videos which seem to be high-quality production.
Songs like “Jerusarema” and “Tiise Maoko” were shot in Vumba while the bonus track “Hello” was shot in Kariba.
The other videos were done in Harare.
“If you look at the videos, you will see that we are trying to meet international standards. It is not about how much we use but the impact of the videos to society,” he said.
In the video for “Jerusarema”, the musician seeks to win the hand of the king’s daughter, while in “Tiise Maoko” he fights an unidentified creature in the jungle.
The video for “Hello” depicts an all white boat cruise for the musician and his companions.
“Eriza” takes people down memory lane of school days depicting a student dancing for a school crowd. His assistant manager, Lloyd Kurima who is known as “Mabla 10”, comes in on song “Chinamira” trying to evade his wife and go out.
The wife battles to get him home with tricks that leave one in stitches.
Today Jah Prayzah takes his 3rd Generation band to Mutare for a performance at The Platinum, formerly Pick and Save.
Event organiser Isau Mupfumi said they had prepared for the show that is likely to attract thousands of music lovers in Mutare.
Tomorrow the musician comes back in the capital for the “Fill Up the HICC” a gig that has been the talk of the town.
The gig, organised by Jive Zimbabwe and other partners, is considered the shut-down gig for 2015 as top entertainers are billed to participate.
Jah Prayzah will be joined by Suluman Chimbetu, Winky D, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Alexio Kawara, Roki and many others.
Musicians who will be performing at the event promised fireworks as they usher fun loving people into 2016.
