A MAN from Bulawayo has been sentenced to three months in prison for attacking his sister with a wheel spanner on her ribs, arms and legs leaving her hospitalised.

Michael Zvoushe (34) from Nkulumane suburb assaulted Ms Farirai Zvoushe (20) with a wheel spanner several times all over the body after she reprimanded him for sending away their cousin, Wisdom Chipiro, who had arrived home late.

Ms Zvoushe was admitted to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).

Zvoushe appeared before West Commonage magistrate Ms Tancy Dube facing a physical abuse charge. However, the magistrate wholly suspended three months on condition that Zvoushe performs 105 hours of community service at Nketa Secondary School.

Prosecuting, Mr Tapiwa Solani said the incident occurred on September 2 this year, at around 9PM.

“Accused and complainant had an argument after the accused person wanted to chase away their relative. As a result the accused person struck the complainant with a wheel spanner on her leg, arm and ribs,” he said.—@sharonbuwe
