A LUPANE man is behind bars after playing hero and trying to stop police from arresting a suspect, only to end up being arrested himself!
Mlindeli Ndlovu (36) from Mtshekwa Village couldn’t keep his nose out of trouble when officers swooped in to nab assault suspect Moffat Ndlovu on 25 July. The cops had just wrapped up another arrest in nearby Jabiwa Village when they were called in for the fresh case.
As they moved in to cuff the suspect, Mlindeli jumped in like a scene from an action movie. He pulled officers mid-arrest and even grabbed one from behind, tearing his shirt in the scuffle.
The law doesn’t take kindly to wannabe stuntmen. Both men were eventually subdued and hauled to court.
Mlindeli, according to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), was slapped with an 18-month prison term. Lucky for him, 15 months were suspended for good behaviour. He’ll serve 3 months in jail for obstructing justice.
The NPAZ urged citizens to respect the work of law enforcement, saying blocking an arrest puts public safety at risk.
