THE Jairos Jiri vocational training centre is appealing to Government and other well-wishers to assist with resources to enable it to buy training equipment.
In an interview Jairos Jiri Vocational Training Centre acting principal, Mr Tafadzwa Gochai, said the major challenge facing the institution was lack of training equipment. “Our students do not pay fees and as such it is difficult for us to raise the required money to buy the training equipment. Our budget for procurement of equipment and other training materials is limited hence the appeal to Government and even the private sector to assist with resources,” said Mr Gochai.
The institution has an enrolment of 100 students and most of them are disabled.
These students are doing different vocational courses and many of the classes need equipment.
Last Friday, the centre received a donation of 30 000 litres of Maheu worth $11 000 from Arenel.
Mr Gochai said the institution relies on donations for its day to day operations.
He said the donation from Arenel will go a long way in supplementing their feeding.
“We are grateful to Arenel for their donation which will go a long way in supporting the feeding programme. We are dealing with people with disabilities who are not paying fees so we rely on sponsorship and donations to cover our expenses,” he said.
Speaking at the same ceremony Bulawayo provincial youth development officer, Mr Orphias Dube urged companies such as Arenel to adopt departments at the institution and assist with the required resources. — @PrinceNkosy102
