Jamaican star I-Octane will jet in the country today ahead of a show that will be held at City Sports Centre on Saturday.
Director of Chipaz Promotions, Patson Chimbodza, said the advance team will arrive around midday then the musician and his manager will arrive late in the night.
“We have done everything for the show as the star is expected tomorrow (today) late in the evening. His advance team will be in the capital around 12.30pm,” he said.
Chimbodza said they have organised a welcome party on Friday at the Volt an up market bar that has replaced the Book Café.
Tomorrow the musician will have a ghetto tour where he will be meeting several fans.
“People will have time for photos with musician who will tour a number of high-density suburbs in Harare,” he said.
Will I-Octane fill in the venue that has been the heart of many music lovers?
The promoter of the event said the response has been overwhelming forcing them to create a VIP section.
“People have been calling regarding that show and we have already created a VIP section,” he said.
I-Octane will be supported by local musicians including Winky D, Sniper Storm, Shinsoman, Soul Jah Love, Seh Calaz, Dadza D, Hwindi President, Kinna, Lady Squanda, Judgement Yard, Merciless Zim, Chillspot Records, Chipaz Sound, Templeman and Garry B, DJ Cables, DJ Smily, Fyah Lynx and Leny Matherhorn.
That will be yet another battle for supremacy among local artistes who have released their new stuff. Winky D, who has released his singles collection, has been dubbed man of the moment.
Since the release of the much awaited collection Winky D has gone a gear up and managed to give fans the best.
For years the musician managed to thrill fans and is a serious stage threat for foreign artistes because he can easily steal the show.
Shinsoman, who has released a 16-track album, will be one of the performers. It will be his first time to share the stage with Winky D after the release of their top chatting song “Survivor”.
The 31-year-old I-Octane started recording music commercially as a teenager when he released singles such as “Oh Jah” and “Stepp a Seed”.
He went on to drop chart-toppers such as “Straight From The Heart”, “Burn Dem Bridge”, “Crying To The Nation”, “Badmind Dem A Pree”, a collaboration with Bounty Killer produced by Buju Banton’s son Markus Myrie and Love Di Vibes among others. He is popular among local dancehall fans and the show is likely to attract a huge crowd.
