Jangano at Maritzburg

GUNNERS defender Justice Jangano has left for South Africa where is set to undergo two weeks of trials with Premiership side Maritzburg United.

And if he impresses and gets a deal he would become the second player, after Knowledge Musona, to play in the Absa Premiership straight from Division One.

The centre-back has also earned a place in the national team and featured in the COSAFA Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa justified his inclusion of the rookie defender in the national team.

“He is not a player that I saw playing lower division football. I saw him playing in those pre-season matches when he played for CAPS United against Dynamos.

“Everything he did was good and I was very impressed. He is a player, who, if we work very well with him, can be a top centre-half.

“The issue of him playing in the lower league obviously worries us and there is need for him to move to a bigger club so that he can continue improving,” said Pasuwa. Jangano nearly joined CAPS United at the start of the season and featured in a number pre-season friendly matches where he impressed before returning to his club after the deal collapsed. The Green Machine still want to secure Jangano. Yesterday his manager, Edzai Kasinauyo, who is with the player in South Africa, could not be drawn to comment whether the player would move to CAPS United if he fails to secure a move to Maritzburg.

“He has a lot of potential and I believe he is meant for bigger things. He has the qualities to play in any league and I don’t doubt his qualities,” he said. The defender joins Hwange striker Evans Rusike who is also on trials at Maritzburg.
