AWARD-WINNING jazz and marabi musician Jeys Marabini and his Kozekulunge Band have arrived in Vienna, Austria, ahead of a month-long European tour that kicks off in Germany on July 25.
The Ezinangeni hit-maker and his band left Bulawayo on Tuesday and are set to perform across Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, taking Zimbabwean music to new audiences while strengthening cultural ties through a series of concerts and cultural exchange programmes.
In addition to the performances, the band will host workshops aimed at sharing Zimbabwean musical traditions and engaging communities across Europe.
Speaking from Austria, Marabini said the group was in high spirits and eager to begin the tour.
“We have safely arrived ahead of our opening performance on July 25. The excitement within the band is overwhelming, and we know audiences are looking forward to seeing us. We can’t wait to connect with people through our music and deliver performances they will remember,” he said.
Marabini described the tour as another significant milestone for the band, saying the invitation to perform in Europe reflects the growing international appreciation of their unique sound. He said the Kozekulunge Band had dedicated months to rehearsals and was ready to deliver memorable performances.
“We don’t take this opportunity lightly. Promoters have followed our work, believed in what we do and invited us to share our sound with new audiences. That recognition inspires us to work even harder.
“We prepared thoroughly and the band is in top form. The chemistry, energy and commitment of every member are exceptional, and that will be reflected on stage. Audiences can expect vibrant and powerful performances filled with passion, authenticity and the spirit of our music,” said Marabini.
Concert-goers will enjoy a repertoire featuring Marabini’s timeless classics alongside songs from his acclaimed 2025 album, Umjolo, a project rooted in African identity and inspired by his upbringing in Filabusi.
“Umjolo represents my roots and where I come from, koGodlwayo Omnyama, Omahlabayithwale in Filabusi. The album carries powerful themes, and I’m looking forward to performing some of its songs during this tour,” he said.
