Jolly Phonics conference to explore reading culture

Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe will hold its annual conference on October 29, to explore new developments to re-engage the reading culture by offering a wealth of resources for acquiring skills in teachers, parents and children.

The conference will update and train teachers, parents and individuals with an interest in Jolly Phonics, Jolly Grammar and Jolly music.

It will also explore new developments in  Jolly Phonics, grammar and music, such as Jolly classroom.

Running under the theme: “Teach a child 10 words and they will only know 10 words. Teach a child 10 phonic sounds and they will know: 350 three sound words, 4320 four sound words, 21650 five sound words”.

The Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe director, Mrs Shingi Benyu confirmed the conference.

“We will host world acclaimed trainer Coral George of Jolly Learning United Kingdom as the guest speaker, Belinda Riley of Bee’s Study Group.

“She will take attendees through her reflective journey with Jolly Phonics at her school and Mr Taungana Ndoro Director of Advocacy and Communications from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education will explore the government’s position on reading.,” she said.

Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe has been working on its Post Covid-19 Literacy Standards Restoration Initiative Programme which seeks to re-engage the reading culture for acquiring skills for teachers, parents and children by offering a wealth of resources under Jolly Phonics and Mazwi Trust.

“Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe works in collaboration with Jolly Learning United Kingdom, and in 2018 at the Educational Awards it scooped a runner up position for the best supporter in Educational Services.

“The organization has also been active in South Africa implementing the Jolly Phonics program in Eastern Cape government schools in conjunction with Jolly Learning United Kingdom and Jolly futures team.”

Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe is an educational organization that specializes in assisting children to reading, write and speak English.

This is done using a systematic, synthetic, multi- sensory approach called Jolly Phonics.

The Jolly Phonics Programme is recommended by the International Cambridge Syndicate and is supportive of the new Zimbabwean curriculum.

Whilst Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe centers on assisting Children attain and improve on their basic literacy skills as its core objective, Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe also seeks to train teachers, parents or guardians the Jolly Phonics approach, Jolly Grammar and Music.
