UK-BASED Zimbabwean football scout Jomo Dyson Dzapasi has reached another career-defining milestone.

Dyson has now been appointed as the new Chief Scout and Senior Player Developer by the PYE Football Scouting, Trials & Development Football Academy.

They are based in Leeds, England.

“We are proud to announce the well-deserved promotion of Jomo Dyson Dzapasi to the position of Chief Scout (Europe & England) for the Under-21s.

“This elevation marks a significant milestone in a career defined by dedication, an elite eye for talent, and a relent-less work ethic,” PYE Football Scouting, Trials & Development Academy said in a statement sent to the Zimpapers Sports Hub yesterday.

“Dyson will lead our strategic talent identification across England and Europe, ensuring the PYE projects continue to set the standard for elite player pathways.”

When contacted yesterday, Dyson, who is currently on a working visit in Belgium, said he felt honoured by his latest appointment. “This elevation or promotion is a great honour for me. “In fact, my project work has promoted me. Am one of the few scouts that take a player, aged 16 to 21, to top-flight leagues and clubs in Europe.

“I also work for elite Champions League clubs,” Dyson said.

He has a legacy of talent identification in both Zimbabwe and Europe.

Dyson’s journey is one of true craftsmanship. He boasts of 15 years of grassroots mastery, scouting junior players from Under-6s to Under-15s.

Since 2018, his expertise has been trusted by English Premier League and Championship clubs to identify the next generation of Under-21 stars. In his new role within the England and European PYE projects, Dyson’s position carries the weight and authority equivalent to a Brigadier General in the military or a Bishop within the Church. He will officially be referred to as Chief Scout and Senior Player Developer.

Dzapasi acknowledges that gaining the trust of the Zimbabwean community in the UK and across Europe took 12 years, overcoming the presence of established football schools and development centres.

He cherishes the unwavering support and loyalty of the community, alongside other nationalities, which has been instrumental in the success of PYE.

Dzapasi, a former investment banker with Tetrad Bank and NMB Bank and former senior scout for Leeds United FC Academy, founded PYE Football Scouting Trials and Events, PYE Sports and Events. Under his leadership, PYE has consistently helped youngsters sign for UK Championship and Premier League teams over the past 13 years.
