REIGNING Ms Zimbabwean bodybuilder Regina Jonga is confident that she will capture the Ms Botswana contest when she takes to the podium this evening.
Mbare-born Jonga will be part of several Zimbabwe athletes who will be part of the 2015 Mr and Ms Botswana to be held in Gaborone.
Zimbabwe, through their good relationship with Botswana, have accepted an invitation to have representatives in the country’s biggest bodybuilding contest.
The event, which was last held in 2013 will make a comeback and the reigning Ms Ironman Zimbabwe, Jonga, is confident that she is well prepared and is in good shape to take the honours.
The bodybuilder said she is looking forward to the event and has prepared for it and is looking at nothing short of victory.
“I think I have done enough to be on the podium.
“It is a big event and I was preparing for it for a while and I am happy it is coming while I am in good shape.
“My confidence is high and I look forward to tough competition which I am sure I will be able to overcome,” said Jonga.
The men’s category has Jonga’s Zimbabwean counterpart Isaac “Sugar” Chimuchenga as the defending champion having won the contest in 2013 before it took a sabbatical last year.
Jonga will be joined by several other local athletes who will contest in different categories and they will include Mr Zimbabwe middleweight champion Chimuchenga and Ndumiso Dhlodhlo, the Mr Zimbabe 2015 light heavy weight champion.
Michael Shonhiwa Mr Zimbabwe Junior Under-23 as well as Upenyu “Big Life” Mahlaulo, who was the 2004 Ironman first Runner-up will be in the contest as well.
