JORDAN, a football club from Matabeleland South’s Filabusi Business Centre in Insiza District are unperturbed about punching above their weight division.
They are a modest side occupying fourth position on the Zifa Southern Region Pacific Breeze table.
At the moment they are enjoying the positive soccer tide that has left them fancying their chances of reaching later stages of the Zimbabwe Football Association Cup, the Munhumutapa Challenge, that was introduced this year by the Nqobile Magwizi-led executive.
Jordan have reached the final 16 stage of a tournament that attracted participants from Area Zone Leagues, regions and the Premiership.
They find themselves at a level where Chicken Inn, Dynamos and Highlanders have already been eliminated.
Coach Johannes Nhumwa insists that they are under no pressure at all at this level.
Jordan were drawn against Hardrock of Kwekwe in the Round of 16, a big achievement for lower division football and Insiza District. Their third round clash is set for Luveve Stadium on Sunday, a David versus Goliath affair.
“We are under no pressure at all, we have nothing to lose,” declared Nhumwa after seeing his team put up a second half show that ensured they stay in the chase with another three points in the league after a 2-0 win over a Bulawayo City Council side at Luveve Stadium on Sunday.
It was a good preparation match at a venue they have been given as their home by Zifa for the clash with Hardrock on Sunday.
They have set their eyes on training there this week as part of the build up to the weekend match.
Nhumwa was happy too that the boys have their confidence back with two consecutive wins.
“The confidence is back and after winning the last two games, we managed to consolidate our play,” said Nhumwa.
“On Sunday it’s a different ball game all together. I am happy because from where we are playing and where they are playing, we do not have anything to lose,” said the Jordan coach.
Hardrock are chasing the title and appear the team to give Scottland a good run for its money up to the end of the race.
Contacted for comment yesterday, Hardrock coach, Kelvin Kaindu said their biggest undoing could turn out to be complacency.
He said cup games are very unpredictable.
Already Dynamos and Highlanders will be watching from the terraces and television as they were bundled out of the tournament by Hwange and Blackrock respectively at the Round of 32 stage.
“It’s a cup game, cup games are very tricky, we have to guard against complacency,” said Kaindu.
The Zambian gaffer who is enjoying a new lease of life in the dugout, is happy that the match will be played at a neutral venue, Luveve Stadium.
