Jordna Zemura scores first Serie A goal

ZIMBABWE international defender, Jordan Zemura scored a brilliant goal from just inside the box as Udinese drew 1-1 at home to Cagliari in an Italian Serie A match yesterday.

Zemura ventured into enemy territory unmarked on the left and on getting to the end of an otherwise poor cross, he smashed a right-footer into the roof of the net in the 14th minute.

It was his first-ever goal in the Serie A, one of the top domestic leagues in Europe after his move there from English Premiership side, Bournemouth.

Zemura, who played his 18th match of the season, was taken out in the 65th minute and earned a man-of-the-match rating of 8.8 out of 10 on the Soccerway website. The draw, however, did not help Udinese’s cause in their fight against relegation. With 23 points from 25 games, Udinese are 15th in the 20-team Serie A.

However, they are just three points above 18th-placed Verona, who currently occupy the final relegation slot.
