Journalist grabs cleaner’s breasts, court told

Radio VOP (Voice of the People) journalist Nkosana Dlamini, yesterday appeared in court for allegedly grabbing the breasts of a Harare Municipality street cleaner before assaulting her following a misunderstanding over litter.

Dlamini (39) is facing indecent assault and assault charges.

Harare magistrate, Mr Tendai Mahwe, remanded him to today on $20 bail. The prosecutor Mr Sebastian Mutizirwa alleges that on May 9 this year around 7am, the street cleaner was on duty at Montague Shopping Centre.

It is alleged that she saw Dlamini disembark from his vehicle registration number ADE 1434.

The court heard that Dlamini took out litter from his vehicle and threw it in the skip bin.

The cleaner advised Dlamini that it was unlawful to bring litter from home and place it in the skip bin.

Dlamini allegedly became violent and grabbed the woman’s breasts and threw her against the skip bin.

Pretending as if he was going away, Dlamini stopped and picked a stone. It is alleged he stoned the woman on her right shoulder.

As Dlamini went away, the woman took pictures of his vehicle number plates with her mobile phone.

When Dlamini saw that the woman was taking pictures of his vehicle he reversed and the woman ran away and took refuge in a parked tax.

The woman reported the matter to the police and she was referred for medical treatment. Her medical affidavit will be used in court as an exhibit.
