A total of 25 journalists signed the integrity pledge from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) in April and May this year.
Addressing an anti-corruption media workshop in Harare yesterday, ZACC deputy chairperson Commissioner Kuziva Murapa said the signing of the pledges was a commendable step by members of the fourth estate as it goes beyond the call of holding journalists to account.
Comm Murapa urged journalists to approach the workshop with open minds as they play a pivotal role in exposing corruption.
“We have brought here officials to broaden your knowledge on the fight against corruption and an expert to unpack the intricate subject of corruption and investigative journalism,” he said.
“Let us seize this opportunity to learn from each other, to share best practices, and to strengthen our collective resolve in the fight against corruption.”
Comm Murapa also said the anti-corruption reporting media workshop sought to enhance the understanding of journalists ofvarious forms of corruption, its manifestations and its effect on society.
