A GROUP of journalists is touring Masvingo Province from September 5 to 8 on a four-day familiarisation tour ahead of the 2026 Sanganai/Hlanganani/Dzimbahwe World Tourism Expo, which will be held in Masvingo from September 9 to 12.
The journalists, drawn from various media houses, on Sunday visited Tongaat Hullet Sugar Plantation in Chiredzi with Gonarezhou National Park, Lake Mutirikwi and the Great Zimbabwe Monument lined up.
The tour is providing tourism journalists with first-hand exposure to the province’s attractions and products, enabling more informed and compelling reportage while spotlighting investment opportunities and the sector’s economic potential.
“As part of the activities leading up to the expo, the ZTA will host a Media Familiarisation Tour (famil tour) from 5 to 8 September 2026, aimed at providing participating media practitioners with an opportunity to experience and gain first-hand knowledge of Zimbabwe’s tourism products and attractions in the Masvingo Province,” said Zimbabwe Tourism Authority.
The initiative comes as Government positions tourism as a key driver of economic transformation, investment mobilisation, employment creation, community empowerment and infrastructure development.
Hosting the expo in Masvingo presents the province with an opportunity to showcase its diverse tourism assets, attract investment and expand community participation in the tourism value chain.
Masvingo is home to major attractions including Great Zimbabwe, Kyle Recreational Park and diverse cultural and wildlife destinations.
