ZIMBABWE’S most celebrated gospel musician, Mkhululi Bhebhe now based in South Africa has finally fulfilled his dream of releasing an album after years in the limelight.
The gifted artiste, who is also part of the celebrated gospel outfit Joyous Celebration, will be launching his debut live DVD album dubbed The ultimate praise experience on 2 December in Johannesburg.
On the live DVD recording album consist of not more than 20 tracks; some of the tracks would include collaboration with SbuNoah who happens to be his friend, brother and colleague from Joyous Celebration Choir among other rebound African artistes.
The long awaited album carries with it testimonies of his life what he has gone through to be where he is today and he has dedicated this album in honour of God’s work in his life.
“The main message on this album is to attest that nothing is impossible with God. With all I have been through, suffering rejection and at times being told that I will never amount to anything in the music industry. I’m a living testimony he made me something out of nothing,” Bhebhe said.
Bhebhe said that the response that he has got concerning his album launch has been overwhelming and this is an exciting feeling for any artiste.
“When I announced that I was recording my very first live DVD in Johannesburg, I got an overwhelming response from people all over the world, some of whom will not be making it for the recording due to geographical locations. People have been sharing on social media and tickets are selling well,” he said.
Explaining the reason why it took long to have own album, Bhebhe said that he was going through a process of self discovery.
“The reason why it took me so long to release an album was because as an artiste it sometimes takes a while to find one’s niche. I have been on a journey of self discovery. I have been so preoccupied with travelling the world, ministering in different countries that I didn’t get much time. My international and local tours have enabled me to pick up different sounds and infuse them into my product. I have really learnt a great deal and I hope that it will show in my product,” he added.
However, Bhebhe has conflicting feeling on how people will receive and embrace his product.
“Now that my dreams are coming to life I have conflicting feelings of fulfilment and nervousness. It’s always an uncertain journey when it comes to music because it’s entirely dependent on how well your music is received. I have seen artistes release excellent products which were not well received, but I hope I will be singing a different tune,” he said.
Bhebhe showed a lot of gratitude to his colleagues at Joyous Celebration for the support that they have shown him throughout his journey as a musician as well on the preparation for the forthcoming event. Zimbabwean fans will get to experience his recording as he intends to release it in Zimbabwe among other countries in 2018. -@kayskudzai
