JS win women’s volleyball title

won the national club championships at Morris Depot over the weekend.
Seven women’s teams took part in the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association Ladies Club Championship with the teams being split into two pools.

Pool A was made up of Raiders, Sharks, Highlanders and Jewel Stars while Panthers, JS Harare and Diamond made up the other pool.
In the group stages, JS beat Panthers 3-1 before dismissing Diamond 3-0 to progress to the semi-finals on Sunday.
The Harare side played Jewel Stars, who had also progressed to the last four, after finishing second in their pool.

Jewel Stars defeated Sharks 3-0 before overcoming Highlanders by the same scoreline but came unstuck 3-1 against Raiders who emerged top of the mini-league.
JS Harare beat Jewel Stars 3-0 in the semi-final with Panthers winning 3-1 over Raiders.

Jewel Stars got a consolation in beating Raiders 3-1 for third place.
“The winners of the championships walked away with a floating trophy and a chance to represent the country at this year’s Zone 6 Club Championships to be held in Namibia from the 28 November to December 3,

2011 and the losers walked away with medals,” said Sibangani Mashasha, the ZVA administrator.
Last week, Railstars had won the men’s championship and will be joined by JS Harare for the trip to Namibia.
