THE Judicial Service Commission, led by Chief Justice Luke Malaba, has expressed its condolences to the Chatukuta family following the passing of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Feliciah Chatukuta.
She died in Harare on Saturday at the age of 63.
Mourners are gathered at number 18 Lower Hampden Road, Marlborough, Harare.
In a statement, the JSC conveyed its profound grief and respect.
“The Chief Justice of Zimbabwe and chairperson of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon Justice Luke Malaba; the Judicial Service Commissioners; the senior judge of the Supreme Court; judges and magistrates; the secretary of the Judicial Service Commission; and all members of the Judicial Service would like to express deepest condolences to the Chatukuta family on the passing on of Supreme Court Judge Honourable Justice Feliciah Chatukuta in Harare on Saturday 22 November 2025.”
According to the JSC, Justice Chatukuta was a dedicated servant of the law with a distinguished career. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) in 1985.
Her early career saw her take on various crucial roles, including working as a public prosecutor, serving as a part-time lecturer at UZ, and holding a directorial position at the Legal Aid Directorate.
Justice Chatukuta’s tenure on the bench began on August 29, 2005, when she was appointed a judge of the High Court, where she served with distinction for 16 years before her elevation to the Supreme Court on June 3, 2021.
The JSC also conveyed its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family, saying: “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. May the Lord provide them with comfort during this difficult time.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
