THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has redeployed two senior magistrates to Bulawayo and Nkayi as part of a routine exercise.
Stephen Ndlovu, who was resident magistrate for Nkayi magistrate’s courts, has been transferred to the Western Commonage Courts as a provincial magistrate while Themba Chimiso moves to Nkayi to replace Ndlovu as the resident magistrate.
Chief magistrate Mishrod Guvamombe said the promotions were with effect from June 1.
“We’ve redeployed two magistrates in Bulawayo and Nkayi as part of our routine exercise to strengthen our operations so that we’re able to offer a world class justice system in the country,” said Guvamombe.
He said the transfer date had been moved to June 1 to allow Chimiso to wind up his partly heard matters.
Ndlovu joined the JSC in 2004 as a trainee magistrate and was sworn in as a magistrate in August 2005.
He rose through the ranks from junior magistrate to senior magistrate. He was transferred from Bulawayo to Binga as a resident magistrate in June 2006.
In June last year, Ndlovu was transferred again from Binga to Nkayi as the resident magistrate. Ndlovu holds a certificate from the Judicial College of Zimbabwe (JCZ).
Chimiso was sworn in as a magistrate in 2010 after joining the JSC as a trainee magistrate in 2009.
He holds a law degree from Fort Hare University in South Africa.
Chimiso, a senior magistrate, has been stationed at Western Commonage Courts from the time he was sworn in as a magistrate.
