JSC to launch third phase of e-system

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will on Friday launch the third phase of the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) that will see the automation of the general division of the High Court and the Sheriff’s Office.

The launch will result in the criminal division, civil division, anti-corruption division, fiscal appeals division, legal practitioners’ appeals division of the High Court, and Sheriff’s Office being digitised. 

JSC, in a statement, said the filing of court cases, pleadings, processes, and documents in the general division of the High Court will be done electronically through the IECMS platform with effect from September 1, 2023.

“The first phase of IECMS was launched on the 1st of May 2022 and it covered the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, and the Commercial Court Division of the High Court,” said the Commission. 

“On the 1st of February 2023, IECMS second phase was launched in the Labour Court and the Administrative Court. The third phase completes the automation of the country’s superior courts. 

“The next phase will focus on connecting the magistrates’ courts. Litigants who wish to litigate in the High Court or file any pleadings are now required to first register on www.zimiecms.org.zw.”

The Commission said litigants with already existing matters in the High Court were required to initiate the conversation of their matter into electronic form.

Those who are already registered, continue using your existing IECMS account,” it said.

Meanwhile, a high level delegation from Malawi is in the country to tap into the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) being used by the country’s Judicial Service Commission (JSC) so that they can introduce the same system in Malawi.

The six-member delegation led by Malawi Supreme Court Judge Justice Frank Kapanda paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice of Zimbabwe Justice Luke Malaba to discuss how Malawi can learn about IECMS and how they can tap into the system.
