President Mugabe has confirmed the appointment of nine judges to preside in the Supreme Court and High Court. The judges took oath of office before Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku last week. Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, made the announcement in a Government Gazette published yesterday.

The effective date of assumption of duty in respect of High Court judges was September 7 2015.
Those appointed to the Supreme Court were Justices Susan Mavangira, Chinembiri Bhunu and Tendai Uchena.
Six judges have been appointed to preside in the High Court.
They are Justices David Moses Foroma, Jester Hellena Charehwa, Clement Phiri, Tawanda Chitapi, Edith Kuda Mushore and Nyaradzo Priscilla Munangati – Manongwa.
The nine judges were selected from a group of 56 candidates who participated in the inaugural public interviews conducted last year by the JSC.
