Masvingo High Court Judge Justice Garainesu Mawadze’s wife, Locadia, has died. She was 53.

Mrs Mawadze died in a road traffic accident together with two passengers, including the driver. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and rolled once before landing on its right side.

National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the accident occurred on Saturday at around 1pm at the 190 kilometre peg along the Harare-Masvingo Highway near Fairfield Business centre. She said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

“I can confirm receiving a report on road traffic accident which claimed three people,” she said. “Bodies of the deceased were taken to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.”

Snr Asst Comm Charamba said on the fateful day, an Isuzu twin cab driven by Mudzviri (56) of Harare was travelling from Harare towards Masvingo carrying two passengers. Mudzviri, she said, who also died in the accident, lost control of the vehicle.

“The vehicle veered off the road to the left side, overturned once before it landed on its right side,” said Snr Asst Comm Charamba. Police attended the scene and took the injured to Mvuma Hospital where they died upon arrival, she said. Mrs Mawadze is expected to be buried at the family’s farm in Mvuma tomorrow. She is survived by her husband and two sons.
