DANCEhall DJs Judgment Yard brought the house down on Saturday night as they played for two solid hours and kept the crowd on their feet at the ZiFM Bulawayo Invasion Party at Eden Nite Club.
The dancehall duo had teamed up with ZiFm’s DJ Gibson Ncube for the first time in the city.
The show started at 12.30AM with Etherton B introducing the pair to the crowd, which responded with wild cheers.
Thereafter the duo got down to business and the show was filled with a mixture of different dancehall “riddims”.
They took the crowd through a musical journey as they played tracks from reggae greats such as Bob Marley among others.
As the dancehall tracks from Sizzla, Capleton and Coco T were played, the crowd would sing along to the most popular tracks.
The duo showed why they are the most sought after dancehall DJs in the country as they did not disappoint the crowd.
Women were clad in different forms of attire with those wearing bum shorts saying they were bringing the Caribbean feel to the venue.
Thereafter with the crowd thinking it was time to go home, DJ Gibson Ncube brought a fast-paced mood to the set.
He played a mixture of international, regional and Zimbabwean all-time greats such as True Love by Busi Ncube, Mapurisa by Andy Brown and Dzandipedza Mafuta.
Speaking after the show, Ncube said the show was better than he expected and appreciated Bulawayo revellers for coming in their droves.
“I like the Bulawayo crowd and its appreciation of dancehall music. I knew that they liked dancehall but I didn’t know that we had such a huge following. There were people who were singing to almost all of the songs that were being played. This is a positive sign that dancehall is fast growing in the country,” he said.
Ncube said Judgment Yard showed their prowess on the decks as they kept the crowd on the dance floor for a good two hours.
“This was my first time sharing the stage with Judgment Yard. I knew what they were capable of doing, but what I didn’t know is how good they were. What impressed me was how they were able to keep the people on the dance floor from the beginning of their set without losing the plot,” said Ncube.
The show went on with Eden resident DJs Kananja and Slamma wrapping up the show with a mixture of old and new school hip hop tunes until the early hours of yesterday morning.
