THE June 2015 Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) Advanced Level results are out and pupils can start collecting them today. In a statement yesterday, Zimsec director Esau Nhandara urged centre heads to collect the results from Zimsec regional offices.

He said candidates who sat for the June examinations will be able to collect their results from their respective schools or centres from today.

Nhandara said the June 2015 candidature decreased by 14,29 percent after a total of 4,086 candidates sat for the examinations, compared to 4,767 in June 2014.

“There were 173 A-Level examinations centres for the June 2015 examinations and these recorded a total of 4,177 registered candidates. The total number of candidates who sat for the examinations, however, were 4,086 as compared to 4,767 in June 2014. The candidature decreased by 681, a decrease of 14,29 percent,” said Nhandara.

According to statistics provided, school candidates recorded 86,62 percent pass rate while private candidates recorded a 62, 77 percent pass rate.

“Our analysis shows that the majority of candidates, both private and school, sat for one subject. School candidates who registered for two or more subjects were 568 and 492 obtained Grade E in two or more subjects, which translates to a percentage pass rate of 86,62 percent,” he said.

“Private candidates who registered for two or more subjects were 1,327 and 833 obtained Grade E in two or more subjects, which translates to a percentage pass rate of 62,77 percent.”

He said that the number of candidates who sat for 2 subjects or more, increased between 2014 and 2015.

“There has been a percentage increase of 18,46 percent in the pass rate for the same period. As Zimsec, our aim is to fulfil a national responsibility of providing quality assessment in the education system.

“This is to ensure that learners proceed to the next level with confidence, having prepared them for progressive development,” said Nhandara.
