June O and A-Level results out

June Ordinary and Advanced level results are out, two months after the candidates sat for the examinations, with some students applauding the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council for the early release of results.
Speaking to CLS, Taurai Moyo from Highifield said it was a good move although this might spoil the holiday mood as some may have failed.
“I applaud Zimsec for their timeless efforts in marking the papers.

“However it might be too soon for others because if you have failed then it is going to spoil your fun this holiday,” he said.
Taurai (15) said he is writing in November this year but his brother wrote earlier and is looking forward to collecting the results.

Officials at Zimsec attributed the quick release of the results to electronic processes in both registration of candidates and in the marking of scripts.
They said examination centre heads have already started collecting the results from Zimsec regional offices and will be ready for collection soon.

They said this year saw the largest number of Ordinary level candidates registering to sit for the June examinations, with a total of 101 471 candidates in comparison to the 97 788 who registered in 2013. In relation to Advanced Level examinations, a total of 4 767 candidates registered for the examinations, a slight decrease from the 4 827 who registered for the 2013 June examinations.

More than half of the total candidates (3 016) sat for one subject.
From these candidates, more than 75 percent sat for one or two subjects.

Only 3 658 candidates accounting for 3,60 percent of the total number of candidates who registered sat for five or more subjects.
At least 5,52 percent of the candidates registered for four subjects, while 14,64 percent registered for three.

About 34,09 percent of school candidates who registered three subjects passed in comparison to 17,71 percent of candidates who registered as private candidates.
