Junior golf team struggles in Japan

THE Zimbabwe team continues to struggle at the ongoing Toyota Junior Golf World championships at the Chukyo Golf Club in Japan.

The team was anchoring the 15-team battle yesterday after they took their tally to seven-over-par 220 overall.

Yesterday, the Zimbabwe team shot five-over-par and they are a single point behind Brazil and four strokes behind Scotland.

Kieran Vincent, for the second time, had the best score of one-under-70 during the second round.

Justin Kersten also had a decent round of one-over-par 72 while Jack Allard had a five-over-par 76 with David Amm a point adrift on six-over-par 77.

Leading the pack at the tournament are Norway who shot minus 11 for a total of minus 13 over the two days.

Sweden are tied with Japan on seven-under.

On the individual rankings, Vincent is the best placed local as he moved from the first round position 20th place into 14th place.

The Royal Harare player was on one-under after the second round while Kerstin was a distant 48th and Amm and captain Allard were in 53rd and 55th places.
