Jupiter takes over advertising agency

THE Jupiter Drawing Room (Harare) has acquired local advertising agency Mawazo Brand Development. The acquisition, which was concluded on August 1, saw Mawazo ceasing to operate and was subsequently incorporated into The Jupiter Drawing Room.  Jupiter says the acquisition increases its size and builds on its capacity to deliver world-class advertising solutions to the local market.

Mawazo managing director Mr Chris Mahakata has been appointed chief executive of Jupiter while Nancy Ziyambi retains her position as managing director of Jupiter (Harare).

Commenting on the acquisition and his new role, Mr Mahakata said: “There’s nothing as powerful as an idea whose time has arrived. And this idea has arrived. We are privileged to be living in such exciting times both for the continent and as creative individuals.

“Knowing that we will be in incredible company can only lead to amazing work for our clients and recognition amongst our peers on what it means to be part of this family.”

The Jupiter Drawing Room executive chairman Mr Michael Hogg said: “It is a great pleasure for me to welcome Christopher Mahakata as the new chief executive officer for Jupiter (Harare). Chris is inherently a creative man, who will ensure that Jupiter is further enhanced as a sought after research and insight-driven creative agency that has the capability to attract and service domestic, regional and international blue chip clients.”

The Jupiter Drawing Room (Zimbabwe) & Partners chief executive Mr Denford Magora said the acquisition would support the bold growth strategy that has been adopted by the brand group, the Jupiter Drawing Room (Zimbabwe).

The Jupiter Drawing Room (Zimbabwe) is the largest advertising agency group in Zimbabwe and comprises Jericho Advertising and Jupiter (Harare). The group also operates Jupiter (Blantyre), Jupiter (Lusaka) and is in the process of establishing more Jupiter offices in the Southern and East African regions.

Its client portfolio includes leading companies in the country such as Old Mutual, Zimplats, Delta, Unilever, Toyota, First Mutual Life, MBCA, PSI, NetOne, TelOne, Schweppes, CBZ, Securities Commission of Zimbabwe, Nando’s, Western Union, Seed Co, National Foods, Cimas and Tongaat.
