POPULAR music producers Arnold Kamudyariwa (DJ Fantan) and Tafadzwa Kadzimwe (DJ Levelz) as well their promoter Simbarashe Chanachimwe (Damma) are set to be temporarily released from prison after the High Court granted them bail pending appeal on Thursday.

The bail was granted by Justice Davison Foroma.

The trio were earlier this month jailed for an effective six months for violating Covid-19 regulations after organising the Mbare New Year’s Eve bash which was attended by hundreds of people in flagrant breach of Covid-19 regulations.

One of the lawyers representing the trio, Mr Dominic Mthombeni, confirmed the development.

“Bail pending appeal has just been granted to DJ Fantan, Levels and Dhama by the High Court. Hope remains alive. Hope never dies,” he posted on his official Twitter account.

Harare provincial magistrate Mrs Vongai Guwuriro initially jailed the trio for 12 months before setting aside six months of the sentence.

The six months were set aside for three years on condition that they will not commit a similar offence within that period.
