TWO cattle buyers lost US$12 920, $45 000 and their mobile phones to an armed robber who purported to be selling cattle.
In their twitter page, said the suspect requested to sleep at the complainants’ home in Mwenezi while on his way to collect the cattle that he had claimed to be selling.
“The ZRP urges members of the public against trusting strangers. This follows an armed robbery case which occurred on 30 September in Mwenezi, where two men were robbed of cash amounting to US$12 920, $45 000 and cellphones.
“The complainants’ who are cattle buyers received a call from an unknown caller purporting to be selling 36 cattle. The suspect told the complainant that he was in Kwekwe and intended to sleep over at the complainant’s house before proceeding to Maranda area where he claimed his cattle were. The suspect was offered accommodation before producing an unidentified pistol and demanded cash from the complainants,” said the police.
They appealed to members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the police.
