JUST IN: Kazembe in good health

THE Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage has dismissed as false social media reports that Minister Kazembe Kazembe was on Wednesday morning involved in a car accident, saying he is in good health and high spirits.

In a statement the Ministry’s communications and advocacy officer Mr Francis Mupazviriho said Minister Kazembe discharged his routine duties contrary to the false accident reports.

“The attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage has been drawn to false social media reports purporting that the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Kazembe Kazembe was earlier involved in a traffic accident, which reportedly claimed the life of his unnamed driver. The location and circumstances leading to the “accident” were not disclosed by the purveyors of the fake news,” he said.

“The blatant falsehoods, which are in bad taste, were accompanied by a picture of an accident damaged grey Isuzu double cab vehicle, which was deliberately misrepresented as Minister Kazembe’s official vehicle, as part of an elaborate scheme to give credence to the fake news, which have since gone viral on social media.”
