JUST IN: Ngarivhume, Chin’ono appear in court

OPPOSITION politician and organiser of the July 31 mass protests Jacob Ngarivhume and journalist Hopewell Chin’ono have appeared at Harare Magistrates’ Court charged with scheming against the Government.

The pair is being accused of conspiring to mobilise anti-Government protests planned for July 31.

The two, who appeared before two different magistrates, were not formally charged with “incitement to participate in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry.”

In both cases, the prosecution is opposing bail. The bail ruling is expected to be made by end of day today.
