JUST IN: Police arrest 36 000 border jumpers, 25 000 illegal gold panners

POLICE have arrested 25 795 people under operation isitsheketsha kasiphele/ Chikorokoza ngachipere and 36 505 under an operation meant to curb cross border crimes

Police said the two operations were launched on 7 July.

“On 26 July police arrested 140 people involved in illegal mining activities across the country. The police have arrested 25 795 people since the commencement of the operation code named, “Chikorokoza ngachipere/ isitsheketsha kasiphele and no to machete gangs”.

“Meanwhile, police arrested 257 people under the operation meant to curb cross border crimes. Since the commencement of the operation on 7 July police have arrested 36 505 people,” said the police.
