THREE people were burnt to death after the Mercedes Benz they were travelling in crashed into haulage truck and caught fire on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police confirmed the accident.

The fire was intense that the three deceased were burnt to ashes – only their skulls indicated that the charred remains were of the three people who died at the accident scene.

The entire Mercedes Benz was gutted by the fire.

Police said it was impossible to identify the deceased and to determine whether a charred body had been a male or female passenger.

The identification of the dead is expected to be done through DNA tests after the collection of the blood of relatives.

Police sources revealed that the driver of the Mercedes Benz will be the easiest to identify as they will use the number plate of his car to get his particulars from the national vehicle database.
