Zanu-PF has finished drafting its manifesto for the 2018 harmonised elections, which will be launched soon.
This was said by the party’s secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, following the 308th Ordinary Session of the Politburo yesterday.
“The chairperson of the party, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, gave an update on the party regalia,” he said.
“She also presented a comprehensive report on the Zanu-PF elections manifesto for the harmonised elections.
“This is the final edition of the 2018 people’s manifesto, which will be launched at party headquarters at a date to be announced.”
Cde Khaya Moyo said the national Political Commissar, Lieutenant-General Engelbert Rugeje (Retired), apprised the meeting on various party issues.
“Retired (Lt-Gen) Dr Rugeje gave a comprehensive commissariat report encompassing Presidential tours, Chitepo School of Ideology activities, the BVR (biometric voter registration) statistics, cell verification programme and an update towards the holding of primary elections,” he said.
The Politburo, Cde Khaya Moyo said, did not deliberate on primary elections as some provinces were still to submit lists of aspiring candidates.
“Well, it’s an exercise still in progress not all provinces have submitted and hopefully by the end of the week all submissions will be in,” he said.
“There was no way we could discuss other provinces and leave out others.
“So, we hope as soon as they are all in, we shall definitely meet as Politburo and get submissions from the national elections commission, which is headed by the political commissar, Cde Rugeje.

“We hope it won’t take long, perhaps less than a week.”
The Politburo will meet next week to finalise the issue.
Zanu-PF provincial structures have been flooded by CVs from candidates keen to contest the May 5 primary elections.
According to Cde Khaya Moyo, yesterday’s meeting was briefed on President Mnangagwa’s recent State visit to China.
“The secretary for external relations, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, gave a detailed report on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Moyo (Retired) on His Excellency’s recent State visit to China,” he said.
“Because of the excellent relations that exist between the two nations, the Heads of State agreed to elevate relations from all-weather friends’ status to a comprehensive strategic partnership status.
“A number of agreements were signed during the visit, as well as memoranda of understanding. It was indeed a remarkable State visit covering the political and economic spheres.”
