FORMER Zifa president Trevor Carelse-Juul has ruled himself out of the running for the country’s top soccer job.
Zifa elections for board members are due at the end of the month. Cuthbert Dube has emerged as the odds on favourite to land the job with Leslie Gwindi among the front runners to challenge him.
Of late another name that has come up is that of Juul, the former Bulawayo Wanderers coach who was Zifa chairman in the early 1990s.
He was replaced by Leo Mugabe who was at the helm for 10 years, the longest by any administrator in the country’s 34 years of football in independent Zimbabwe.
In response to his name being thrown around for the post, the man who has an international business empire, confirmed that he was not interested in the job.
He said he was being pushed by Zimbabweans some of them senior politicians to consider the job but he was not keen.
“I am not interested. I am an international businessman who owns a large concern, people are pushing me but no thanks. Not now,” said Juul on whatsApp to Chronicle Sport.
Dube is seeking a second term and has already been given the thumbs up by the regions and the player agents body.
Voting patterns so far point to a landslide victory for him.
