WARRIORS and Aris striker Tino Kadewere has resumed light training and is targeting a return to competitive action by mid-June as he continues his recovery from injury.
The 30-year-old forward said the rehabilitation process has been challenging but he is encouraged by his progress and focused on regaining full fitness.
Kadewere’s return could provide a boost for both club and country, with Zimbabwe expected to begin preparations for upcoming 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this year.
Speaking about his recovery, Kadewere said returning to light training marked an important milestone after he recently missed the Unity Cup in London.
“I have started training lightly again, and that is a big positive for me after spending time on the sidelines,” he said.
“The recovery has not been easy because, as a footballer, all you want is to be on the pitch helping your team. Being injured is frustrating, but I have tried to stay patient and trust the process.”
Kadewere said he is taking a cautious approach to avoid setbacks.
“The most important thing is to come back fully fit and ready rather than rushing and risking another setback,” he said.
“If everything continues to go according to plan, I am hoping to be back playing by the middle of June.”
The former Olympique Lyonnais and FC Nantes striker has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. However, his latest update raises hopes that he could return in time for Zimbabwe’s upcoming assignments in September.
Warriors interim coach Kaitano Tembo is expected to give Kadewere a chance after missing the recent assignment.
Kadewere has represented Zimbabwe for more than a decade and has played professionally in Sweden, France, Spain and Greece.
