ZIMBABWE international striker Tino Kadewere will now hope to complete a permanent move to French Ligue 1 side, Nantes after they survived relegation despite a record home defeat against Champions League hopefuls, Lille on Sunday night.

Nantes had a ball possession of 23.1 percent as they succumbed to a 2-1 loss to third-placed Lille, which was their ninth successive home defeat, a French Ligue 1 record.

However, Nantes survived relegation waters as third-from-bottom Metz lost 2-1 after taking the lead against Strasbourg away.

Nantes lead Metz by four points with just one round of matches remaining, ensuring their survival in what has been an underwhelming campaign.

When Kadewere joined Nantes on loan from Olympique Lyon, the deal was such that the transfer would become permanent if they survived relegation and they were keen on his services beyond June 30 when the temporary move expires.

Kadewere, who played 21 minutes on Sunday, had a dream start at Nantes as he scored a brace on debut in a 4 – 1 French Cup match against lowly Pau.

However, goals were hard to come by in the league and he managed just one goal in 13 matches for Nantes.
