NGEZI Platinum coach Clifton “Somalia” Kadurira has set his sights on guiding his charges into the final inaugural Yadah TV knockout tournament and is confident they will clear the Bindura United hurdle and achieve that feat. Kadurira’s team will face Bindura United in a quarter-final tie in Bindura on Sunday. Ngezi Platinum are doing well in the league championship and former Blackpool defender Kadurira wants them to take that consistency into the Yadah TV Cup campaign.
Although they lost 1-0 to Bindura United in the league, the miners believe the cup game presents them with a chance for revenge but the Ngezi coach added that he was expecting a tough assignment.
“We are not going there to make up numbers, we are going there with the full intention of progressing to the next round.
“We are preparing well for the event and I hope we are going to pull through.
“It is every team’s intention to progress to the next level and make it into the final eventually.
“We have a good side which can play any team at any moment so we will be prepared for the match,’’ Kaduriria said.
Kadurira said they would not feel intimidated by the fact that Bindura have already beaten them in the league.
“We are ready for the event and we are going to give our best to come out with a positive result. We will not look back on the past games but play the game with a different approach as cup games are tricky,” Kadurira said.
Both sides have had some ups and downs with Bindura United managing a draw with neighbours Mushowani before dismissing Blue Swallows 1-0 in last week’s encounter.
Ngezi Platinum on the other hand were beaten by Blue Swallows before being restricted by DStv Rangers in a 0-0 draw last week.
Two of the Yadah TV Cup matches will be played this weekend with log leaders and favourites Gunners taking on Starbill at Lafarge while the other quarter-final games have been scheduled for September 28.
