Kafelapanjila speaks out

YADAH attacking midfielder Prosper Kafelapanjila has received eight pairs of soccer boots following a picture trending on social media in which he was seemingly wearing a worn-out pair at the team’s home in Prospect.

He posed for a picture with Yadah’s big-name signing, Khama Billiat, and what stood out were his boots which were in stark contrast with what the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star was wearing.

That set social media ablaze and he has since received EIGHT new pairs as people reacted to the trending picture. Although Kafelapanjila said there were no pleas for donations from him, he has benefited from well-wishers who were not happy with the way he was trolled on social media.

He received a pair from Yadah owner Prophet Walter Magaya, Billiat, Frank Nematombo, and two pairs from his brother among other individuals, taking the tally of his collection to 11 pairs. “My brother gave me two pairs and I also received a pair from Prophet Magaya, Billiat, and Frank Nematombo.

“Altogether I now have 11 pairs of boots and I can’t wait to start the season and score using the same boots that people ridiculed and I would want to celebrate with them,” he said.

He, however, insists the trolled boots were in perfect condition.

“My boots are in good condition, unlike reports that we have seen trending on social media. On the day we were having our practice session there were some light showers and, as a result, there was mud all over the boots.

“Khama then arrived and I posed for a photo with him that just trended but the boots are quite good and are one of the three pairs I used last season for our games.”

Meanwhile, Kafelapanjila is overwhelmed with playing alongside Billiat, one of his idols. Yadah is set to travel to Hwange for their opening match of the 2024 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this weekend.

“I am very excited about playing alongside Billiat. He has achieved a lot in his playing career and I used to go and see him turning for the Warriors at the National Sports Stadium not knowing that one day we would be teammates. “All I can say is we are getting along well and he is bringing vast experience and it’s a chance for us to learn more from him at a close distance. Last season Kafelepanjila managed to register four goals and four assists and he is looking forward to adding more goals this season.

“This season I am looking forward to having more goals and assists. And the availability of our home ground will be a major boost to our campaign and we hope it will help us achieve our targets,” he said.
