KELVIN Kaindu has turned Dynamos from shaky to sharp in just a month, but he knows today’s clash with Triangle United at Rufaro Stadium carries traps only a former insider could set.
The coach has guided the Glamour Boys to four straight wins, reviving belief in a team that looked drained of ideas a few weeks ago. Yet he cut a careful figure on the eve of this game, pointing to the man in the opposite dug out.
“The tricky part is that their coach has been here before.
“He knows the players, the environment, and how we operate. His return to Rufaro Stadium could create problems for us. We have to be ready,” Kaindu said.
Across the field stands Genesis Mangombe, a man who knows the club’s every corridor. He built bonds with these players and still calls Dynamos “my team.” But survival, he insists, now defines his mission with Triangle.
“Dynamos is my team, there’s no doubt about that. But I’m at Triangle now and I have a job to do. I know some things, and I know some loopholes we can use to upset them. We are both in the relegation zone, which makes this a must win for us. If you lose to a team in the same situation, you’re only making it worse for yourself,” Mangombe said.
Kaindu, fresh from being named August Coach of the Month, refused to read too much into Triangle’s struggles. “It’s a big game considering our positions on the log. Both teams are fighting to survive, and we’ll both be desperate for three points. Triangle are unpredictable. We need to be at our best,” he said.
He will welcome back Emmanuel Jalai from national duty and counts on the leadership of veteran midfielder Denver Mukamba, whose own resurgence mirrors the team’s revival.
Only weeks ago Dynamos seemed to be sliding toward crisis. Now, guided by Kaindu’s calm authority and lifted by the roar of their fans, they talk of a fifth straight win and a climb up the log. But Mangombe’s intimate knowledge of the Glamour Boys promises a contest full of subplots and danger.
